Take Notice

I just had a moment of clarity.

I am sitting at my desk eating an organic vegan microwaveable shepherd's pie while working on a reality tv wedding show for a style oriented channel.

Sometimes you see your choices in the flesh and they give pause. I'm not saying I thought I'd be a cage fighter or anything, but the above sentence sounds like a letter home from the front lines of the Martha Stewart Youth Army.

Now I'm depressed. I'm gonna go eat some quiche.

Was it Amy's brand. Dude, try the Mexican casserole. It's so to die for. I was reading your post and thought - "yeah, your life is pathetic" and then I had my own moment of clarity when I realized, "I work for an insurance company saving money for the man." Now I'm going to go home and have a Trader Joe's frozen Pad Thai meal with tofu. It's days like this I wish I was back at Starbucks doing something that really mattered.

I know. I wish I was back on set getting a water for Dale Jr. Man, that had meaning.

It was an Amys. That stuff is so good! I'm gonna have an organic burrito tomorrow. And an almond butter sandwich on 9 grain with clover honey.

What has happened to you sissies? Don't you remember greasy steak and cheese sandwhiches at Chase Dining Hall? Man, I'm going to go kick a tree to make up for all the ones you are hugging.

Kick all you want Marshall, but the Lorax still speaks for the trees. And if he's friends with the Ents, which I think he is, you can kiss your sweet tree kicking tail goodbye.

Ok, now I am totally a sissy after that comment.

I noticed last night that my organic meal was also for vegans ... maybe that's why I'm craving a juicy steak right now.

Oh, and Marshall ... go eat a blogarithm you male chauvanist, chemical eating, agressively John Eldredgely tree hater.

John Eldredge does hate trees. I'm rereading The Journey Of Desire right now and this quote struck me:

"I have heard desire call to me across the the fields of my story and have wept for the wounds of my soul, yet I have also found joy in the redemption of it all. I long to be in the forest of my life - and murder all the trees in it and those who hug them. I'm John Eldredge - hear me roar."

    Hey, he didn't say that.
Burly - oh yeah? You are.

I don't think you've read Wild At Heart: Uncut and Uncensored aka Boys Gone Wild (At Heart).
